Sharks have been depicted as man-eaters and killers for centuries. The reality is, however, that of the more than 350 species, only a handful — including the great white, tiger, bull and great hammerhead sharks — pose any threat to humans.
In actuality, through habitat destruction and overfishing, we've become more dangerous to sharks than they are to us. And if they were to disappear, all ocean life would suffer.
